The radiant cut is the name used to describe a rectangular or square modified brilliant diamond with cut corners. It has a combination of brilliant facet pattern applied to both the crown and the pavilion, which gives it a unique brilliance that cannot be matched in the emerald cut.
Ancardi strive to find the best proportioned diamonds and, when looking for a square radiant, a length to width ratio of 1 to 1.05 is ideal. For a more rectangular radiant, a ratio of 1 to 1.10 is optimal though it is entirely a matter of personal choice of the customer and trends have changed over the years.
In the rectangular cut, there is an increased possibility of the bow tie effect, which occurs when the angles of the cut are not optimal. Our gemmologists will also examine the misalignment of facets, as this will cause the brilliance of the diamond to be affected.
